OML someone help me the last forty pages were just describing the city of Paris in different ages, which is fine if you're into that history but it's really, really slowing down the plot.
And yet 500 more pages to go. What percentage will be describing buildings?
Tolkien haters, read this book and then LotR. Will change your mind FAST on the amount of visual storytelling provided.

The last few pages have been a very verbose, melancholic description of how the Notre Dame was changed over the centuries phrased in questions, like okay dude history is sad and humans destroy it all the damn time

Okay so I just spent eighty pages hearing about a play, the building it was in, and the author of the performance being pissed. Oh, and we've only met one main character (that I know of)
Gotta say, Tolkien, I think Hugo has you beat for run-on sentences and descriptions as of right now.
