Yikes! Off to a rough start. Elena’s “what is more important than boys” attitude is cringey, she was disappointed that the new kid at school didn’t ogle her, and she dumps her boyfriend and immediately focuses on the mysterious new guy. When football jocks whistle at her, she’s annoyed. Elena is not very likable. Having seen some of the TV show, I was surprised that Stefan was from Italy.

Elena is immature, vain, and petty. The moment she feels another girl has was she wants, she has to flirt with any and every guy possible and even goes with the students that aren’t her usual crowd. Going to the cemetery to hangout was just so cringey. Stefan’s love “bathed” her during their first kiss. The only thing this book has going for it is the mystery of the attacks.
