The characters in this book are unbelievable. This lady went from years, maybe decades of depression, utter isolation from society and not talking to anyone during this time, culminating in an attempted suicide attempt, and then as soon as MC shows up, goes all manic pixie dream girl with surprising emotional intelligence to get underneath the gruff exterior of our MC. Seriously dude?

I may not be able to complete this. This is rough, straight up.

They said it, they said the thing. ‘I paused, realizing we were saving supervillains’

Not feeling this at all. Reads like a YA novel. Just ‘juvenile’ as much as I hate the word. And plot contrivances to force things to happen. I mean in what world can you be ‘forced’ into a managed job. All the guy has to say is no, and yet he doesn’t? Despite outwardly not wanting to do it? Are you kidding me? Why would this ever happen if not for ‘plot needs to happen’?

Not starting off incredibly strong. I’m not a huge fan of the voice actors for the audiobook. The guy sounds far older than the age of the main character (late twenties physically), and the girl just sounds off. Maybe too high pitched which pulls me out of it.
