So far, a sweeping, fast-paced telling of around 200 years of complex history. Difficult to keep pace with, since I don’t come to the subject with an in-place mental map/timeline of the area and peoples. I am listening to this and perhaps there are additional materials to help in the written work. As is, the 15 sec back button is my friend. The narrator is a fast-talker and I have slowed him down fractionally.

Angie I also wish that it was more clear what the source material is, of course this could also be covered in notes in the written work that I don’t have access to listening.

Angie And lastly, I am wondering if the author has a fascination with brutal cannibalism or if it really was as common as he presents it.
