You should see some of the illustrations in the original. Bizarre.

I've noticed over the last couple years that you have such a unique way of enticing me to read a book by ever so vaguely indicating your own criticisms. 😂
I really do like the book. She in many cases is using the language of the Westminster confession of faith, especially in the early chapters of Genesis. Her writing style is childlike and simple without being childish or simplistic. So I do like that. Her explanation of the creation of man’s soul in Genesis was both creative and clear. My issue was actually, as Zach said, the odd illustrations… both in terms of its strange artistic style and awkward placement. Noah’s ark is placed right at Genesis 11 and the Tower of Babel, as one example. The illustration of the ark itself is half of one side of the ark, making it really difficult to tell what it is were it not labeled. Some more irritating things (but only for a seminary trained pastor) in terms of the content were these things:
“She (Eve) knew that God had commanded them not to eat of that tree, not even to touch it.”
“Because of sin, God gave Eve the punishment of….her husband ruling over her.” (I know, debated)
“God looked upon the earth, and he saw that the people had become very evil-minded. … but there was one good man in the world, and God did not want to destroy him.” (Just not a helpful way of rendering Hen in the Hebrew, and you have to sit there and parse through goodness and badness, grace and sin with your kids. Which is good. But I don’t want to have to be clarifying or correcting Vos. I would prefer her make it easy on me by emphasizing Noah finding favor or grace with God. He wasn’t called tov obviously.)
There are other things here and there but that’s what comes to mind.
Glad I can intrigue you with my ambiguity and vagueness. Ha!
