I'm enjoying the story, though I have major technical objections.
I can't see that it is possible to break the Moon into 7 big pieces - fragmentation would start immediately.
If it were possible it would take hours at most, not 7 days, for scientists to note the inevitable catastrophe.
It's orders of magnitude easier to survive underground in bunkers than in space.

This was a fun read.....like most of his books you need to make it 100 or so pages in before you really get hooked

This book is a wild ride.
If you haven’t read any Stephenson apart from this, I really recommend the Baroque Cycle, Cryptonomicon, Anathem! As a science guy, I bet you will love these, Mark.
Jeroen - I started Cryptonomicon 3 separate times over 3 years. Once I finally crested about 200 pages though, I got hooked and loved that book
