i genuinely don't think he intends these books to be as funny as they are but how else am i to respond to such pieces of dialogue as these? "'well,' [the king said], 'we must prepare to die.' the three fell silent." and "again [the lord of law] smiled. 'existence is paradox. everything that is good is also evil. you know that, i am sure.' 'aye, [said jhary], 'that is what makes me so insouciant.'" like hello???
