Local color - a girls’ parents went missing while doing research into local legends. MC has been studying to search for them one day. One night she runs into one of the creatures who is wearing the face of a boy she likes. He dug the image out of her mind. She gets back home to discover that grandpa is the same creature - sent to protect her/her parents’ treasure, and now they can look for her parents together.

The black strings - the 3 fates is a band. MC can see people’s life strings. When black, death was near them. Contest has most bands with black strings. Other band member could snap people’s strings causing them death. She did it to help 3rd band member win for the money and band contracts - secretly.

The skittering thing - creepy but still only 3⭐️. Two friends have a sleepover at the new preacher’s house w/his daughter. Nothing seems religious here. The mom says let’s play the skittering game - like hide n seek in the dark. They realize something else is in the house. The daughter says she let something hungry out of the well. The mom is heard screaming. Dad has a clicking under his voice. Only 2 girls

Cemetery dance party - school silent dance party erupts into a zombie apocalypse when two girls fighting opens a cursed tomb and something comes skittering out. MC is a horror fan, and she helps get the survivors out of the cemetery. One girl gets bitten and turns.

Black Girl Nature Group - is a trick to get 2 black girls in the woods to be sacrificed to make some white people more powerful. They escape with the help of the ghosts of past sacrifices - including the MCs aunt.

Inheritance - grandma saves her from a bunch of dogs attacking - she a Soucouyant which means so is MC. New High school - with friend at party, 7 minutes in heaven. The boy is who sucked the dogs on her and is being rough. She becomes a Soucouyant and he begs for the curse on his dad to be lifted. She makes him promise a few things first. She now knows how powerful she is.

Queeniums for Greenium! - terrifying. Mc’s sister takes her to a smoothie club that looks like debutant stepford wives. They take her phone and try to take away her meds and Eli pen but fail. They lock her in her room. Crawling in the vents she finds out that they plan to force her to drink the smoothie she is deadly allergic to. They do. Her sister keeps the EpiPen away, but she gets it, and escapes.

The Screamers - she is driving w/ her 19 yo brother next to her. A car runs a red light & kills him. She is scared to drive. Family in mourning moves to a house where family after family dies in it. The ghosts are coming out of the woods to kill them. She must drive for the 1st time since to save them, ghost brother next to her encouraging. You can’t out run death and grief is the moral.

Black Pride - A boy went to Vietnam and came back as a were-lion. He is transforming his black friends and family so that they continue the work of the black panthers and get justice for black people when they have been wronged.

TMI - an author sneakily trades phones with MC. The phone makes it so that you hear everybody’s thoughts around you. It’s too much and driving her crazy. She confronts the author, who wants nothing to do with the phone anymore. But she’ll help her get rid of it. The solution- the lame guy flirting with her- seems rushed just to get the story over with. Otherwise it was a good story.
