Lauren Groff’s Marie de France is apparently not-like-other-girls, so she makes fun of silly women who sigh over courtly love. Except Marie de France was an absolute pioneer in courtly love literature. (AND LITERATURE AS A WHOLE). Groff is so desperately trying to make Marie a XXI’s Century heroine, that she’s absolutely disrespecting her memory.
I thought this was supposed to be feminist?
