The Voyage of the Dawn Treader - 1.5/5

This was extremely boring. Characters are only there to serve the plot, of which there was none to begin with, and have no development whatsoever. When they start to make an interesting choice, in comes Aslan to smash out any development. He isn’t inspiring, but extremely demanding. Some very weird views from Lewis also. He is even more black and white than usual in this one.

Prince Caspian - 3/5

It was so great to be back in Narnia after the bore that was book 3. I flew through the first half. Caspian's story is really fun and fast paced, but as soon as he disappears form the narrative I lost my interest. C.S. Lewis cannot write climactic scenes at all. Everything works out too easily and there is little to no suspense. All characters become bystanders of their own story.

The Horse and His Boy – 2/5
The only book I read before and I remember it being better. Even ignoring all the blatant racism, it is really quite boring. It is set outside the whimsy of Narnia and that doesn’t help. An adventure with talking horses, a perilous journey though the desert and a mad dash to stop a war should be fun, but it dragged. The ending was extremely anticlimactic. This book feels like filler.
