A thought occurred to me: reading Murakami is like reading the slow parts of an anime. Everything is gently detailed and languid. His esoteric plot points wouldn't work as well if he doesn't spend time building the world around his characters.

Alright, here we go down another Murakami worm hole. Only a couple chapters in and I'm already hooked on this tale.
