The Derbyshire Monster is a ghoul now. I guess they fit the setting better than werewolves do, but it still works rather differently to pre-established ghoul rules.
Then again, you shouldn't have too hard rules in Cthulhu Mythos to begin with.

A little bit more about travel, too, than in the original work. It's nice and all, but I still wish they'd named some fitting adventures to put in there. There's some other modules that'd make for little sidequests for this monster.

One bit of criticism I have with this new edition, is the numbering on the maps: it just feels random, with no rhyme or reason. Ideally you should number them according to the order the party's likely to see them, or order of importance, or at least visually from left to right, up to down, something like that. I don't see much any of it here and it throws me off.

I don't recall saying anything about the art in this edition yet. It's pretty great throughout. Great portraits, great illustrations, and amazing cover. Could've gone with a lot more of it in the original work.
I intended to bring it up after the Kenya section - since it's what the cover represents - but forgot.

Bit of two minds about the ghost story. The original was possibly the least inspiring side-trek in the book so upgrading it was a good idea, but I'm not really buying it with the tragic love story melodrama. On the other hand, aging down the brothers into actual kids makes it creepier... but I don't know whether this was on purpose or if it was just something that had to happen because of the love story deal? Ehh.

Game Lodge expansion with less generic ghouls. Lovely. All in all improvement. Some other adversaries have been switching about, though: it's no worse than it was but I wonder why it was done at all.

Nyarlathotep gloats. I always thought it weird back then I think it weird still, how much these so-called gods needs to impose themselves over regular old humans. You'd think they would find better things to do if they were so great.

Suppose you copied the scrolls? With so much things being expanded you could've at least broached the possibility.

It's a shame the travel's all mostly skipped even in this longer version, and more to the point, that it goes primarily by sea. You could've easily slotted some of Horror on the Orient Express in here.

It's a shame that The Asylum & Other Tales hasn't gotten an update for the seventh edition: The Mauretania would make for a bit of a side-trek on the way from New York to England.
