'Aussie Rick' An amazing bloke! I hope the book is a good account.

Liam Yes he was, Rick- I definitely concur!

The book is good, although I'm glad I read Ms. Blair's earlier work on his time in Viet Nam (There to the Bitter End: Ted Serong in Vietnam) first, as this one is much more a traditional biography that provides a more broad overview of his life and career.

I suspect this book had two intended purposes, i.e. to present an account of the totality of his life within its Australian context for those readers not particularly interested in the wars in Indo-China specifically, and also to fill in the details of his background (and add context) for those of us whose knowledge of him came through the study of Indo-China...

It took 20 years for me to finally get hold of a copy, but it is proving to be well worth the wait!
