I infer that Sierra and Robbie will reflect Sierra’s grandparents’ relationship and their position in the Shadowshaping world. Sierra is now Lucera, just like her grandmother, and Robbie is a powerful shadowshaper, just like Lázaro. They’re essentially repeating the cycle throughout the generations. If María wasn’t against shadowshaping, this pattern likely would’ve shown up in Sierra’s parents.
