I’m about halfway through & im obsessed. Jakabok is directly retelling us the reader how his dastardly, murderous trip to Earth during the 1400’s is going, along w/ a new demon companion Quitoon. Clive Barker is amazing me (with a grim smile on my face) how brazenly smooth he moves from second person point of view (i.e “You” speaking directly to us) to first person point of view, storytelling (i.e “We”).

Well i read a great deal this morning (at least for me) due to being unable to put the book down. So interesting, and cannot wait to see how this unfolds in the nearing end! 👹🫡

Jakabok thee demon is turning out to be quite the trickster,as the reader, he’s trying to almost groom us into having sympathy for him, and subsequently “releasing” him into our world as if he was trapped in the book itself. Never in my life have a read a book with this point of view, it’s quite alarming actually, to have the murderous demon trying to coax you, and sugarcoat his atrocities. Very well written!

A morbidly interesting read this will be, i can already infer. 34 pages in is not very accomplished yet but i’m already enamored by this hellish, Dante’s Inferno esk opening! Impressed by the point of view as well, when the narrator (a demon) is talking directly to the reader breaking the fourth wall almost and then drifting off into rambling storytelling, and it’s executed correctly?!I’m definitely sat 👹
