The preface states that this is written as fiction, but based on true events and interviews of all involved - deliberately. Very respectful of all of the victims - surviving members of families and the friends of these poor kids included. That makes it easier to read (chapters are 1-2 pages more often than not) and it’s not as disturbing, despite the content, compared to other true crime books.
