For all my joking, this is pretty much a retelling of Jane Eyre in a contemporary, alternate history setting. Pretty good, and probably more fun if you’re familiar with the original.

It's gotten even more insane. There's some dystopic/existential horror undertones that need to be addressed.

Gotta guesstimate the percentage because I’m reading an omnibus.
No easy way to describe this fever dream. “Absurdist alternate history mystery with fantasy/steampunk/magitech elements” is the best I’ve come up with. And that doesn’t even get into the riot of tropes that is the rest of this book.
