Comparative mythology being analyzed with early 1900's era psychology and philosophy in an attempt to plot out the methodology behind storytelling? It's just as exciting as it sounds... which is to say not very, but it has its moments.
Also this book is not 418 pages, the actual writing is 337 pages and pretty much everything else is bibliography.
