“People of the Pit” has a very strong idea that’s completely undone by ridiculous writing.
All of the characters speak like early 20th century versions of Dennis Miller, for no particular reason. Better writing could make this a masterpiece of horror, but the execution is so distracting and off-putting.

“Black God’s Kiss” is an amazing novella. It deserves to be as well known as any Conan or Fafhrd & The Grey Mouser story.
