It is so wonderful to draw inspiration from unexpected places. My MFA program is overwhelmingly dominated by topics of natural history in the life sciences, but there is so much natural history to explore beyond our atmosphere. There is no Earth without the Sun; their natural histories are one. But is the Sun alive?

Wow, even just the introduction has me thinking so many thoughts. I never would have imagined that such a book would have me drawing connections to Heraclitus and panpsychism -- and wondering about the personhood of glalaxies, collections of bodies in motion. I'm really excited to see where this goes.
