It’s quite difficult to say whose fault is it? Should Carrie have left him? She never wanted to go, he made her do it. In an awful way I wanna say this is all Hurstwood’s fault, but he should have known better. His fall is described so beautifully and gut wrenchingly it hurts physically, yet is sounds so realistic at the same time

Life threw a lot of obstacles her way, but she didn’t succumb, she didn’t hesitate and she did all to get to her goals. Reading about her getting so successful made me feel so happy, she did deserve it. The ending of the book reads way easier and with more delight than the start of it.

Back to the thoughts idea. Carrie always knew who she wanted to become. Since the very first day she left Colombia city for Chicago, her thoughts differed from all those around her. She had no different clothing, nothing noble about herself, her thoughts were all she had. While others thought of struggles, efforts, poverty and misery, her thoughts only fed more on the desire to be successful.

Wow. Now I am starting to see some things in this book. The rise of Carrie which resulted in the fall of Hurstwood. The sad contrast. As he started to go down, Carrie went up. The thoughts. Our thoughts. They shape our reality. Hurstwood knew he was making a mistake but he still went for it. Carrie didn’t love him, he made her.

And how, still, in the 21st century Armenia, including my own father, we have men who sit around, do nothing, gamble, drink, smoke and do other shit, while the woman provide for the family in every way. Our women are heroines, doomed are the societies that don’t appreciate their women

I was really bad at judging Carrie at first but imo she has grown a lot. I love her ambitions. Hurtswood’s case can be understood, but not justified. After all, he brought this all upon himself. And then, there is the part about the life then. That life, set at the end of the 19th century, that sounds so awful, but yet how women still do not approve of idle men

It is getting quite interesting. A lot of important points here now, Hurstwood is getting old. There is a good part how our thoughts create the energy around us. The continuous acts of feeding our thoughts with the good changes our reality, the shit around us. That’s super true and you can see that all around the place.
