I wonder if there is any other circumstance when an author kills off a character in one book. And then receives so much public opinion to bring him back that he does. Interestingly Conan Doyle grew tired of writing about Holmes and wanted to write history books. But the public badgered him to bring him back. Even wearing black arm bands around him as though someone had died and they were in mourning.
