So far, slightly confusing since the writing is different. I assume she’s talking to her brother - as in the book is addressed to him. He’s had a surgery, told that he would die but has survived. Her mother’s happy, her father left. Her grandad is over currently and he says he had experienced a miscarriage in his marriage, and that though her son suffered, she should be grateful he’s alive.
