I feel like he's treating as self-evident that meth is bad so he can point at people going "wow I love meth" and go omg they're crazy when the actual experience of reading this book is *vague memory of him saying what long-term use does to the body and brain* *account after account of how awesome meth is*

So either that (my previous update) or it's making me think that we are as blasé about caffeine as they were about meth and maybe caffeine is a fascist tool of capitalism 🤔 and I'm only like 30% joking

Finally reading the rest of this four years after my global crime and corruption class assigned parts of it. Already developing my hot take that it actually makes a lot of sense that drugs we criminalize today (heroin, meth, cocaine) were widely available over the counter in preparations for adults and children. They were wildly effective! And also some of the first effective drugs! Scoffing at the old folks is silly
