I wondered who the Northwarden was before, and now my question has been answered, while at the same time raising new questions like “Why is he interested in the attacks?” and “Is he connected with Ilseth or trying to fight him?”

I think there’s something more to Caeden lying about not wanting to go to Thrindar than it seems. I think he’s hiding something that’s going to be key to the plot later.

This reveal falls a little flat, although the preceding reveal about Taeris was enough to give this chapter some weight. The audience already knows Tenvar lied, so I feel the reveal shouldn’t have been played up so much, although it did allow the introduction of a strategy that counteracts Davian’s Augur ability.

The man they’ve found must be some evil Gifted like Ilseth because Ilseth led them there. The people who found them sound like they’re also Gifted.

This part is interesting and I’m curious who’s in the wagon.

This section was somewhat confusing since I was listening to someone else read the beginning, but I began to understand eventually. It was very interesting, and the final piece about finding the direction that they need to go in was unexpected.

There were a lot of revelations in this chapter. Both the fact that there’s a secret world for shadows and the Watcher murdering Jin. All of it is very interesting. The Shadraehin is also very interesting and I suspect he knows what the Watcher is and knows about everything that it told Asha.

After reading, I’m curious where Asha’s story will link up back to Davian and Wirr’s. It seems so far removed that it won’t happen for a long time. Maybe her story will be an insight into Ilseth and the other elders’ attempts to cover up whatever scheme they gave. It could also just be that she will find out about something from the school and run away to join Davian and Wirr.

I was expecting the boys to make every mistake they did, yet it still kept a certain tension throughout. This thing with the hunter was also very interesting and I hope it wasn’t a one-off.

I’m curious if Anaar will become a permanent member of the traveling group or if he will just be a means to an end. Likewise with the unknown girl who was watching them.
