I understand where Tess is coming from, that she wants to be more than a pretty face, but when the man you're in love with also loves you and calls you beautiful, it's a compliment! It means he's attracted to you. Nora is right - some of us never have dates, or get called beautiful, and yes, we want to be loved for all that we are, but god - I'd love to be called beautiful too. I'm having a hard time with this book.
