It’s taking me a long time to read because there’s so much new information that I need to double check and look up. But I’m getting a much better feel for British history in 1640s and 50s. I hadn’t realized how extremely violent the English civil war was. At that time, the population of England was around five million people, and around 200,000 died in the conflict.
