As he arrived at a private strip, his backstory was told. He lived in New Mexico, where the Texans took all of the water from his land. Living in a dust bowl, the Dodger took him in and hired him as a smuggler in the sky.

As Cowboy entered the hangar, three matte black deltas were looming above. And a Wurlitzer venting music at the side. Warren stood at his workbench, tinkering with a pump. He was an ex-military man who fought for Earth against orbital, but Earth lost the war. Cowboy talked about his next gig with anger. Warren replied that he didn't like Cowboy's client, Arkady, and said he was dodgy.
