Basically a solid and gripping story, but it would have profited from a little editing. Thoughts so far:
Chapter 14: How can the area around the bunkhouse be pristine? When the monster left the house it must have been dripping with blood and gore.
Chapter 15, end: Pressing down can only result in pressure based on body weight. Strength has nothing to do with it.
