Gotta finish this series.
Kearney is probably the best ever at describing massive armies, cities, logistics and all their maneuvers, features, capabilities, hidey-holes, escapes and triumphs.
In this particular novel we have jumped heads a few times, most interestingly, between protagonists and antagonists sides, multiple characters on the antagonists side. Not sure I appreciate this yet, but we'll see where it goes.

Quite the excellent prologue: gives us our protagonists (though are they are heroes?), sets the stage, hints of romance, chivalry, war, and death, and all of that in 2 pages. Nicely done.
