‘Cabaret’ and ‘Babylon Berlin’ both owe a lot to this book. The atmosphere, the everyday side of the ‘roaring’ twenties.
Also it carries a lot of the mental gymnastics and reflections that is found later in Robert M. Pirsig’s ‘Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance’.
