I do like reading about 1930s politics discussions from people who were there, doing the discussing. And this was published in 1935, during FDR’s first term. He had no idea how this would end. Which really helps with the history repeating feeling of reading it now.

Unfortunately, so much of the prose is un engaging. It frequently segue’s into lists that need historical footnotes.
