He amuses me in the way he can't spare more than two lines to describe the human emotions or logistics of, for example, deciding whether/when to sell the house in England and move to a new country... but then he devotes several paragraphs to telling us (in anthropomorphic detail) about the way a scorpion, offended by his interfering, moves away.
