Reminds me an awful lot of Norman Maclean. Really beautiful stories. The last one I read, “The Last Good Country” is with out a doubt a 10/10. I’m not sure what to label this genre, so I’ll go ahead and self title it: American kids on the bum. Makes me wish I grew up in logging country during the 20s.
