the whole "make the great liang great again" project arc is sometimes such a slog to get through, like i'm proud of you chang geng for singlehandedly inventing currency ("war memorial tickets" or whatever the kids are calling them) AND forcing every citizen to use paper money, i guess, but this is some qiang jin jiu grain levels of obsession. at least the marshal of anding gets to fight "barbarians" for some variety.

i always forget how upsetting their first angsty fight is, in which gu yun (a scoundrel, sure, and yet also bizarrely upright and fiercely loyal) mistakenly believes prince yan is staging a coup—when in reality he's BEING SET UP FOR ONE, and is coolly playing five-dimensional chess about it. just whacking him with his pipa as chang geng goes completely uwu and hangdog (yifu kicks jiaozi? kicks him like the football?)
