I am not a historian, but I think it’s important that, in this unprecedented moment in modern American history, we learn from the past and remember that much of the history of the United States is a history of struggle—of ordinary people coming together to challenge entrenched power, to confront injustice, and to accomplish what the political and economic establishments of the time insisted could not be done.
