Taking a hiatus from this. I read an abridgement that had been published in 1994 back in January, and wanted to see how much of the FULL set I could get through. I caved. Yes, there might be passages that had to be left out of the abridgement, but I found that the massive number of examples of cultural and regional practices presented in volume 1 left me gasping and grasping to be finished. I might some day return.

I read an abridgement in January. Now I'm planning on reading all 12 volumes of the original.

Finished with 22 pages of prefaces to three editions, and I'm ready to start page 1 of 420 for volume 1 of the 12 volume set first published between 1906 and 1915. The printing I am engaged upon is dated 1955.
