The Mariette scene and the idea of Adam Krug being seduced by her aggravated me so much 😔 It was uncomfortable to read, I really hated the whole scene but thankfully she doesn’t get her way and he stops before anything can happen at all. I hated every moment of that scene, it’s my least favourite scene so far but I do still think the book is great!! (Might skip that part on rereads lol)

This is my first Nabokov and so far I find myself enjoying it very much. I understand what my school librarian meant when he said that Nabokov “writes sentences that are better than [other] entire books.”
