To be honest, it was about a 3/5 for me, just a kind of fun little thriller, until the end where it’s just the sheriff ruminating on the transition to a new world he doesn’t understand. It’s weird and deconstructive. And the fact that McCarthy doesn’t give you the satisfaction of seeing the actual climax/conclusion of the thriller part of the book elevates this above a simple page-turner for me. 4/5
