These journal entries are so powerful, so intense, that they can only be read a little at a time. It makes me sick that that can be done to another human being simply for sharing a different religion. And yet - we're doomed to repeat it because not enough people know their history. None enough people CARE to know their history, which leaves an indescribable feeling inside of me.

Anyone that thinks the worst of WWII were the camps needs to read this. the atrocities and abuses of WWII were so much more. The atrocities committed against others in the name of religion continues to sadden and worry me - especially because we as human beings seem to have learned nothing and it continues to this day. :( Do we ever learn?

These journals by Mr. Klemperer are heartbreaking to read. The first book takes place as Hitler comes into power and the changes are put in place, the second are the repercussions of those changes.
EVERYONE should read these books. WWII wasn't just about the atrocities of the camps.
