I wish art books didn’t feel the need to go so far back, or that I would embrace my agency to skip to where I want to start. But the front section really bogged me down (just like comprehensive art museums).

I will borrow it again and give it another go. I hope to learn to be a better observer, or at least understand that the many axes along which art can be considered.
