Seems to be written well enough so far. Only thing at the moment is a parallel between this and A Thief’s Magic (which I think I preferred) where the first book on Canavan’s series seem to feel a bit disconnected. They will eventually connect obviously but I wonder how much of the current character set in the slums will be used later. Feels like they might be throwaway or stay disconnected
