Thought provoking insights on Tolstoy and Dostoevsky, particularly the former's evolution from literary realism to spirituality.

Analysis of the literary influences and legacy of Pushkin and his contemporaries are rather intriguing, especially how future Russian revolutionaries (incl. Grigoriev and Dostoevsky) "read" and politically appropriated his poetry.

So many names: historiography and breadth of literary knowledge is so exhaustive of the period. May need to own this volume in the future and keep it on my reference shelf.
