nice! the alpha quadrant powers finally get off their hands and lasunch a very sketch counterattack against the borg. but wait! the federation has money?! i thought they were post scarcity fully automated luxury gay space communism? ;) guess not! lets see what the wikis say! great book so far as i remembered.

wow! this book is way more of a slog than i remember it being 12 years ago! the alpha quadrant is not doing well against the borg's genocidal invasion. billions are dead. star trek technobabble is way more insufferable in novel form than on tv.

wowwwwww ! we finally seem to have fimnished the outdated abortion storyline and now we are dealing with the now deceased "bitter barren woman trope" ah well, this book was written in 2007 . its 2026 now and lord how things have changed! it seems like the plot is finally starting to plot and the murder mystery is doing things the borg genocidal invasion continues. things are not good for the alpha quadrant.

this book is more of a slog than i figured an apocalyptic borg invasion would be. theres more romance than i enjoy in my scifi but thats just me! the writing and worldbuilding is great! i want to know more about how the war is going for the alpha and beta quadrants as both seem to be under attack. there are some time jumps over two vastly different eras of trek, the enterprise era and TNG post voyager. good book!

wowww! this book is soo good on a 2nd pass after maybe 17 years? i think i read it in 2009. i just finished the scene where a character had a miscarriage and resisted getting the nionviable fetus rfemoved. i remember that causing some scandal back in the day. i forget where this plot thread goes, but theres a huge cataclysmic borg invasion happening and the federation is barely holdinmg on to the core worlds!
