One day he opened up about his psychosis, and it gave him the idea to start a documentary.
He so purely writes down his thoughts, feelings and the difficulties he faces about reliving the past. The reflection about why he had a breakdown and what it meant left me speechless. All this time he wanted to heel his inner child.
- “David, who’s the little Black boy you needed to save.”
- “I think it’s me.”

I got a glimpse about his life in the psychiatric ward and how one day he opened up to the world about his psychosis.
So inspiring and touching!
There are moments of raw truths, and he aknowledges how difficult it was to read his medical records & facing his memories of his breakdown.

After his best friend died he got a call back from an audition that said he got the part.
In that moment his wife asked:
- “Do you know what day it is?”
- “No.”
- “It’s Lui’s birthday today.”
Such an emotional part!! The person who always believed he would make it was there with him that day.

I’m at the part where David went on a workshop with some actors in Kent, and experiences discrimination. How Black people can’t have big roles, and that it changes the whole dynamic of a scene.
It saddens me to notice how hard it is for such a talented man of colour to find his way into the acting world. Even when he’s already part of it, it still remains difficult due the stereotypes & internalized racism.
