EnchantedEva Ok so The Lord of The Rings is a trilogy and the Hobbit is the prequel to it! I believe there’s a couple outer books as well, such as The Silmarilliom, but that’s not necessary to read, I believe it’s just other information about the world😊

EnchantedEva I apologize for the couple of misspelled/misused words in there, it’s late and my brain is mush

Clara Gardner 🌍 The basic idea

Both The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are fantasy stories by J. R. R. Tolkien. They take place in the same world called Middle-earth (think: elves, dwarves, wizards, dragons, all that).

🧙‍♂️ The Hobbit (start here)
• Full title: The Hobbit
• 1 book
• More simple, kind of lighter, almost like a fairy tale

What it’s about:
A hobbit named Bilbo Baggins gets dragged into an adventure with a wizard (Gandalf) and a group of dwarves to steal treasure from a dragon.

👉 This is basically the “intro” to the world.

💍 The Lord of the Rings (the main story)

This is the big, more serious story that comes after The Hobbit.

It’s 3 books:
1. The Fellowship of the Ring
2. The Two Towers
3. The Return of the King

What it’s about:
Bilbo’s cousin Frodo Baggins has to destroy a super dangerous ring (the One Ring) before an evil ruler (Sauron) takes over the world.

👉 This story is more intense, emotional, and epic.

📚 So how many books total?
• The Hobbit → 1 book
• Lord of the Rings → 3 books

✅ Total = 4 main books

⚠️ Bonus (optional extra stuff)

There are more books like The Silmarillion, but you do NOT need those to understand the main story—they’re more like deep lore.

👍 Easiest way to read them

If you’re starting fresh:
1. The Hobbit
2. Then the 3 Lord of the Rings books

Clara Gardner yes, i used AI haha

I haven’t read any of the books, but I’ve watched the movies for both series, and it was really good. I tried to read the series before, but it’s kind of slow, honestly.
