seeing how fondly malarkey talks about richard speight jr in this book is so sweet.
i first started watching band of brothers because of how much i loved richard speight jr as gabriel in supernatural, and i wanted to see his other performances. how he plays skip muck in the series is so amazing, and it's great to read how seriously he took the role in order to properly honor skip, who was malarkey's best friend

"That wasn't Skip Muck back there in that foxhole. Skip Muck was sitting on the floor of the PX with me, listening to the Mills Brothers sing "Paper Doll" on the jukebox. He was getting my food for me when my legs had given out on the march to At-lanta. He was swimming the damn Niagara River at night, a thought that made me want to laugh and cry at the same time, the crazy fool."

"By the time it was over, twenty thousand U.S. soldiers-two towns the size of Astoria at the time—would be dead. But I would only seriously grieve the loss of one."

him ranting about sgt. evans is so funny to me because im just picturing simon pegg. i had to take a step back and find photos of the real man so i didn't have to close the book every two seconds because i was cackling thinking about simon pegg playing him in the series
