I have a feeling it's the husband that's the problem, the way Nina's unhinged behavior is made too obvious and would make the reader too focused that she is the true villain. UNLESS Millie is an ubreliable narrator and all these events is what she wants the reader to believe so no one suspects she is the true villain. AHH
