it’s such a wild ride listening to her talk about being a 9 year-old-girl and understanding the politics of girl friendships and girlhood at that age.
i really like how she mentions which parts of her life influence characters/plot points in books, but i’m sad that i’ve only read handmaids tale and don’t know all the refs.

i love the camp vibes and how much of an outdoorsy girl she was. love when she sang the camp songs or read her old poems. also, love the references she mentioned about the aunts and the buildings in handmaids tale

i’m listening to this as an audiobook narrated by margaret, and 2 hours and 45 min being 10% feels a little crazy!!
she is so insanely detailed about her upbringing, it’s amazing. love the details about her love of bunnies, the fact that her dad is such a lover boy that he named her after her mom, and just in general hearing about her outdoorsy upbringing during WWII.
so excited to keep listening!!!
