So this book is fine... until a woman comes along (Jeanne d'Arc or Livia, for now) -> the moment anything feminine walks onto the pages, it apparently cannot resist the compulsion of its dudebro fantasy niche, starts foaming at the mouth, and turns entirely demeaning.

Ok, we're starting with a sexist joke, cool. After a self-important prologue might I add.
Either the story is going to call out the ass of a protagonist we are given (and it better be made clear soon) or I feel this is going to have a very short shelf life in my house.

I would hope that as a queer writer Sullivan would be more conscientious and do better but apparently not. Sounds disappointing. 😔

Same, I did not expect this to have to go in that direction AT ALL.
There are only 2 women in this whole thing, and they always appear together in the same few (2 or 3 of them so far) chapters but it's enough to taint the whole experience honestly. Of course the two women are pitted against each other too, for good measure. Disappointing, yes :/

Oh wait, a third one appeared and she's also demeaned. There's a maybe fourth one (not sure yet if she's going to have any importance), a wannabe witch presented as pretty clueless and, not sure why we needed to know, but a footnote informs us that she's likely fucking her pet familiar.I think I should DNF
